This is BANANAS

The past few days have been so surreal. It was sad saying goodbye to family and friends, but the fact that I won’t see those familiar faces for 9 months didn’t really sink in until I was on a 13 hour plane flight across the world. On the plane I contemplated over and over in my mind why I’m doing this. I still don’t have an exact answer, but since being here I can just feel that it’s the right choice for me.

Rosario, Fernando and Fernando Jr are so sweet. I couldn’t have asked for a more caring host family. We can barely understand each other, but I’m already in love with them. Also, Nicolai, a boy from Denmark is staying as an exchange student here. We get along super well and he’s fluent in English which is great. We both don’t know enough Spanish to survive so it’s nice to have someone to talk to. And apparently Denmark is like the bacon country, so that’s pretty exciting. He's also teaching me Danish :D

We start school tomorrow. Ah. I'm really scared to have to take my classes completely in Spanish, but I'm excited to meet people. And the school day is 9am-2pm so it's super short. I don't think we have a lunch break though. Which I'm okay with. I guess most people in Spain eat 4 meals a day. My family is constantly asking if I'm hungry and offering me food. I don't think they understand that I just don't have a very big appetite. Poor Nicolai though is basically being forced to eat haha. I told him I'd let him know if he is getting fat.

I'm so stoked for the coming months.

I'll try and update this blog pretty often with pictures etc.
